Goodbye 2018

Perhaps it’s a little early to be saying adieu to the year when we still have three weeks to go, but there’s a lot of changes coming up in my life over the next week and a bit.

For one thing, my dayjob contract ends of Dec 14. After a year and 2 months of the daily grind, I’m back to not knowing what the heck I’m going to do with my life. It’s liberating. It’s terrifying. I can’t wait.

The first thing I’m going to do is take my first real vacation in years. A full week of guilt-free….anything I want. Binge watching some shows before we drop our Netflix account; binge-reading as many books as possible on my TBR; binge-napping and (most importantly) not waking up to an alarm at 5am (I mean, I’ll be waking up to my husband’s alarm… but then I get to go back to sleep). I might even dive into a video game to spend a few wonderful hours.

Then, of course, I will be enjoying the holidays. We have three Christmases to celebrate this year, hosting two of them, and I plan to throw myself all in. The Christmas spirit is real this year, so I’m going to enjoy all the warms.

Finally, I am going to catch up on all the admin I’ve fallen behind on this year. Picture this: me, a full teapot of tea, some British mystery show on the TV, and a giant stack of banking information so I can update all my accounting information before tax season. That is the dream, my friends. The dream.

After that… I don’t know! The world is my oyster. If I can figure out how to build a big enough fan-base to keep me writing full-time for the foreseeable future, then I will remain inside for the duration of the winter pumping out new work to have a slew of publications in 2019-20. Alternatively, I’ll see who best could use my proofreading or marketing skills out in the real world. Either way, I see nothing but possibilities, and I’m excited.

So for the next two weeks, this blog will be silent, but I’ll be back on December 31 for my annual Highlights of 2018 and Look Ahead at 2019. I look forward to seeing you there and hearing how you plan to take charge of the next 365.

Hello 2019!
