Why KindleUnlimited?
I've been pretty vocal over the years about why I keep my books available across all retailers: I do not like excluding people, I like to make my books accessible, and I do not trust Amazon to keep my business safe.
But I also love to feed my family, and as it stands today, the majority of romantasy readers subscribe to KU, so I owe it to these books to give it a trial run.
Unlike Kobo Plus (Kobo's subscription service), Amazon's KindleUnlimited program requires authors to be exclusive to Amazon for a period of 90 days, at which point you can then remove your book from the program or stay in it. So this trial run will be at least 90 days, then I might give it longer as I play with different marketing strategies.
This is new territory for me, and I won't lie that I'm nervous about it. But even if my romantasies remain in KU, I will always release it direct and on Kobo for at least a week first, and of course Patrons in the $5+ tiers receive their copy as part of their tier perks. So if you don't want to buy via Amazon, you do have options before November 5!
